Nichols custom knives

As a knife maker, I have the same passions that you do. I am captivated by the design of the custom knife and awed at the work and the time that is put into the creation and fit of the flawless knife. To me, that passion has always motivated me to keep making the custom knives and sheaths that we have all grown to love and find personally exciting. . . The knives that my clients know will be a joy to own and collect. It is my goal to bring to you a constant selection of fine custom knives.

My quest for the perfect knife began in 1991 while residing in San Antonio, TX. Harold Woods of Woody’s Custom Knives poured his years of knowledge and expertise into me and was my mentor in the fine art of knife making. It was in the early years when I learned the importance of putting in all of the hard work by hand without kits in order to obtain the high quality knives that everyone deserves to own. Every knife and every sheath that I create is custom made by me. I work alone so that I know the quality of the product from start to finish.

After I moved to NC, I began exploring new ways to enhance the beauty of the knife, and that lead me to flame coloring Damascus steel. This gave me a new dimension when creating custom knives for collectors. I wanted to enhance the beauty of the handles since the blades now had color so I began working with mammoth tooth ivory. All of my knives are normalized to get the maximum toughness and double drawled to a 58 - 59 Rc. In addition to creating my works of art, I am also a member and webmaster for the NC Knifemakers Guild.

During the Shenandoah Valley Knife Collectors show, my passion for art and high quality knives was recognized when I won the 2006 Best Hi-Art Knife. This was a very prestigious honor for me since Edmund Davidson was one of the judges. I assembled my new talent for flame coloring Damascus blades with the natural beauty of mammoth tooth ivory to create a piece of art for others to enjoy.
